Soprano Leona Hildebrand has enjoyed making music since she was a child. Her love for singing and playing piano inspired her to pursue music studies in her young adult years garnering a Bachelor of Church Music from Canadian Mennonite Bible College (now CMU, Winnipeg, MB) and an Honours Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON. Participating in making music within the broader community is important to Leona. Beyond singing with Canzona she is involved in leading music in her local church, Springstein Mennonite Church, singing in and occasionally conducting the Steinbach and CMU Vesper Services and teaching private music lessons. Leona’s hobbies include making food at home and Camp Assiniboia, gardening and quilting.

She has made her mark on the city’s musical scene as soloist with the WSO and the MCO, numerous performances chorally and soloistically with Canzona and the Winnipeg Singers and as soloist in front of many other ensembles in and around Winnipeg. It has been said Marni is known for her “pureness and precision” and the “ethereal quality” with which she sings. Marni is currently a member of the Winnipeg Singers and Canzona. By day Marni is Associate Pastor of Worship and bookkeeper at the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church. When not working, Marni loves to spend time with her husband Rob and their three daughters, Taylia, Megan and Anika.

Read MoreA member of Canzona since 2009, Karla Ferguson is a versatile singer known for her solo and ensemble work in both classical and folk music. In addition to Canzona she sings with Polycoro and the Canadian Chamber Choir, of which she is a founding member. Karla has performed with the Elmer Iseler Singers, worked under the baton of famed German conductors Helmuth Rilling and Frieder Bernius, and has been known to moonlight as an accordionist in a roots band from time to time.

A graduate of the UBC School of Music in Voice Performance, she has close to 35 years of choral experience under her belt and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon! Equally at home in opera, oratorio and musical theatre, Donnalynn has had the privilege of performing as a guest artist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Rainbow Stage, The Little Opera Company, Dry Cold Productions, Manitoba Opera, Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony, The Regina Symphony, the Winnipeg G & S Society and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. She is also a long-time member of the Winnipeg Singers and has recently joined Camerata Nova.
Read MoreMezzo-soprano Kirsten Schellenberg is considered “one of Manitoba’s most consistent singers” and has been described as “a young Maureen Forester” (Wpg. Free Press). She has appeared as a soloist with the WSO and the MCO on many occasions. Kirsten has sung with Canzona, Winnipeg’s Baroque Choir, for 28 years and is often featured as a soloist in major works by Handel and Bach. She has also enjoyed guest solo appearances with The Winnipeg Singers, The Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, the Mennonite Festival Chorus and other choral groups in the city. Kirsten’s day job is teaching music to students in kindergarten to grade 4 at École Margaret Underhill in Transcona. She is also in demand as a choral clinician and guest conductor for children’s choirs. Kirsten loves spending time at the cabin at Lester Beach with her husband Conrad and their two daughters Rebecca and Sarah.
Read MoreTenor Josiah Brubacher graduated from Canadian Mennonite University in 2014 where he received a Bachelor of Music, with a concentration in senior years choral education. While at CMU, Josiah was busy with the mixed choirs, the men's chorus, and opera workshops. He also studied voice under the direction of David Klassen and performed two solo recitals. Since graduating, Josiah has been singing with Winnipeg Singers and Camerata Nova and he looks forward to working with Canzona as well. He has also worked with other choirs in Winnipeg, namely the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir and the Mennonite Festival Chorus, and has studied voice under Mel Braun. Josiah has also been involved as a soloist, performing works by Schütz, Handel, and Bach. Early Baroque music is a favourite to perform, as well as German art song. When he is not in rehearsal, Josiah works as a carpenter for a home renovation company.

Read MoreScott Reimer is a choral professional from Winnipeg who is known to his peers as a bit of a vocal chameleon. He has sung as a chorister and soloist with Winnipeg’s many premier choral ensembles as well as beyond Manitoba’s border with the National Youth Choir, the World Youth Choir, and Time Ensemble. He has also performed as a soloist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Scott has taught high school choir for five years and has guest conducted several of Manitoba’s regional youth choirs. He conducted within Prairie Voices Inc. for many years and was recently invited to lead the World Youth Choir's tenor section for their 2018 session in China. He is an avid composer with an award to his name and is in constant search of new opportunities to foster community through choral music. Scott is currently completing a Masters degree in choral conducting with Dr. Elroy Friesen at the University of Manitoba.
